Continuing my Japanese-related AI-generated art using Midjourney. I wanted to go with a unique approach. Instead of going with the utmost beautiful, charming and gorgeous–I wanted the scruffy, shoddy, punky tattooed, unkempt and untidy and combine them with the above. It’s actually a really cute contrast as you’ll soon see.
Now, this is a sharp contrast compared to the very beautiful, tidy, and elegant look of a Geisha. That contrast actually really excited me. I already experimented with it so I knew some nice keywords to make it what I want.
This is me experimenting with old people with an untidy look, to say the least.
Now, I didn’t want to bring the old look, even if I tried and I write “geisha” it always make them look young and didn’t even put wrinkles.
But I did want the fuzzy messy hair which is completely the opposite of the super well-maintained hairstyle of a Geisha. I mean, it’s perfect, but in my AI artwork using Midjourney I wanted it to be a total mess.
One, which is my favorite, you’ve already seen above. I made one more which I really like the background and composition.
Of course I didn’t want to go to the extreme. I wanted to keep a scruffy look. I think it’s cute it’s like thinking about a Geisha having a long day, and tired. It is also something that kind of makes a sharp differentiation from what I perceived in Japan as a tourist of something really unique and fascinating, but after all, we are all humans. So this kind of “breaking the ice” with the distance and fascinating Japanese culture and bringing it back to the more known, where nothing is perfect.
I think the art turned out to be cute while still keeping the unique and fascinating beauty of the Geisha’s makeup and clothing and culture that fascinated me so much when I was in Japan.
