Today I wanted to create something with creatures. Thing is, I knew what I wanted but getting there led me to write a long description. 37 words and 313 characters to be exact.
However, once I got consistent results with a unique look and style that I liked, I knew I stick to it and start generating more variations in Midjourney.
The goal was to have cute AI Art images in Midjourney with little dark creatures in a mysterious, dark, cursed fantasy forest. I wanted cinematic lighting, an eerie, creepy mood, and to appear in the nighttime. I added ‘weird anatomy’ as I really wanted to go a bit random here and see what results I got. I wanted the AI art-generated creatures to have a cute look, be fluffy, and have bioluminescence horns (not for all renders though). But the main thing was to get different results, and different creatures, so the cursed dark forest has unique creatures never seen by man. I want the audience to get excited about seeing various creatures out there.
I used Midjourney’s –ar (aspect ratio) property to generate all images at a 10:16 aspect ratio. I wanted the creatures to look small relative to the tall trees and the background of the dark, cursed forest. To give more depth to the image and enhance the atmosphere and trigger emotions for those watching the image. I also wanted the creatures to look small and cute and the viewers to see that relative to the background. Use the background as a reference point.

Tall creatures looked amazing, BTW, but quite creepy and I wanted to focus on cuteness (not saying big creatures can’t be cute though). Although in some images, the creatures appear large on the image, but close to the “camera” (close-up shot), which was OK by me in this particular AI art set.
Now in my mind, I was a photographer, putting a stationary camera without any humans nearby and it automatically captures images when it detected motion. Then it captures images of very rare mythical creatures in that very scary enchanted forest.
As you can see, although I said “dark magical creatures”, adding the word “bioluminescence” in the prompt description in the Midjourney Discord bot led to some other variations.
